So, this update has been very long over due, many reasons behind the delay but things are up and running again, unfortunately no pictures for this update.
Firstly, the foundation laying is 90% complete now, only need to lay a few more blocks and foundation beams and then we should be finished and onto building the skeleton frame of the actual building, still aiming for April 2009 opening time.
Secondly, Id like to announce that Martyn Bewick has joined the team, he brings with him a wealth of experience and ideas and according to Jean he's as mad as me with the way in which he does things.
That's it for this update, hopefully next week i'll have more pictures for people to take a look at.

Today's encounter!
So, anyway...
Back to the present, went down to the studio again today, and carried on laying breeze blocks minus the Bee's, which was brilliant. It's a slow process, but should have a helping hand over the weekend to get alot more done!
I personally can't wait to have the foundation laid down, because it means I can then start to form the structure of the live room! So it's starting to come together if I look back at the pictures starting in September.
The longest part is definately laying down this foundation but it's all worth it in the end... I hope!

So firstly last week
I forgot to update last week, I did go down to Jean's, took pictures but things have been so busy that I haven't had a chance to update this.
So anyway, the 72 breeze blocks arrived, most of the foundations were down in the shuttering and had set solid, so this allowed me to start placing the breeze blocks and seeing how I was to finish the rest of the levelling out. Realising i'll probably need to buy some foundation bricks as well, to go where only slight levelling is required!
Anyway, a bunch of bee's put stop to my work , as they were swarming all inside the room, and I decided id rather leave it till they had disappeared! So below is the pictures of last weeks crusade!

I ache alot!!
But it's worth it. Been at MMF working on getting the shuttering down for the foundations to be put in place. This involved alot of crawling around on my knees, hammering countless amounts of wood into each other..
72 breeze blocks will be arriving tommorow, so i'll be back tommorow with 12 more bags of concrete and a much welcomed helper, Mark Jansen working with me...

Progress is the key!!!
So another update on what's happening,
Went down to Metheringham today with the aim to clear the room next to the already inner built structure, this involved finding room for all the camping kit elsewhere, as well as sorting through th wood to see what needed to be kept and what was to be thrown out.
Now this is done, we can start on the construction finally. We've decided to raise it off the ground using a perimeter of brick then putting a wood frame floor into place, filling the gap in with thick building sand and a layer of acoustic board insulation under it then place a chipboard on top of that.
As before, below are some pictures of the progress :

Paperwork, Paperwork and more paperwork!!!
So,
This week unfortunately I couldn't get down to MMF to carry on with the construction, because of some problems with my bank account which sucked becaused I had hoped to crack on!
So instead I carried on with the boring background stuff for the business to get off the ground, such as the business plan, finance plan, budgeting e.t.c e.t.c I think you get the picture. If you are like me starting a new business and need some guidance, well check out the website below for all sorts of hopefull information -

Update - 24/09/2008
So today was the day to start ripping out the old storage units and put a trim around the bottom of the unit to ensure when we lay the concrete to level the floor out it doesn't manage to seep through under the already constructed building.
Next step is to finish off the trimming around the unit, lay down some under covering of polythene and then get the concrete in, not long now until that point is upon us!
Will update again next Wednesday, below are some pics from today!

Welcome
Welcome to my blog,
Basically this blog will show the development and creation of a recording studio at Metheringham Music Factory in lincolnshire. Our aim is to provide quality service to our clients at affordable prices for even the newest bands starting out.
A brief history of how this came about is that we are a mobile setup, and Jean and Metheringham offered us a home to do our mobile work and get us on our feet. About a year and a half later a room came up for sale, and is the "secret" room of MMF because no one knew it exists. We purchased this room with desired expansion plans and this is where we end up now. Construction is starting this coming week, with lots to do by levelling the floor, building a extension onto the already exisiting room, then kitting both rooms out!
So, we hope you find it interesting to watch the construction of the studio and we hope to find everything running and openend for business by March 2009.
